Mitsubishi Evo X - The Last Evo Ever

By: Jake Namer

In the words of Sport Compact Car editors, Leh and Chen, "the Evo is the kind of machine that only really comes to life when you drive it... like a complete asshole." No car has ever made the common man appear so skilled as the Mitsubishi Evolution. Hack the wheel, mash the gas and clench where the sun don't shine. You'll be rewarded with blazing fast lap times and lots of trophies. In the near future, you will not be able source such a car from your Mitsubishi dealership.

Mike Prior, of Autocar.co.uk, reports that the Evolution X will be the final Evolution produced by Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi’s global product director, Gayu Eusegi, insists “Our influence now is EV technology,” Eusegi said, adding that the decision was a “policy change”, Prior reports. "Mitsubishi... decided its image is about lowering CO2, not making lurid replicas of rally cars that don’t go top-level rallying any more."

Hamfist Racing recognizes and appreciates the sustainability movement, however, it pains us to see the death of the Evo. Maybe this will give a wake up call to Evo owners, reminding them that performance driving is an art that must be learned by the driver and not algorithmically computed by your car's brain.
